Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Civian, an AI-powered resume builder and career platform. By accessing or using the service, you agree to these terms.

Last updated: August 5, 2026

1. Service overview

Civian provides a web application that helps users create, refine, and manage resumes, cover letters, portfolio materials, and related career content with the assistance of AI tools. These services are designed to support job search and professional presentation, but deliverables are generated with the assistance of automated systems and should be reviewed by the user before being used for employment or contractual purposes.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and may not share access with third parties unless specifically permitted. If you use Google or GitHub sign-in, your authentication is managed by those third-party providers, and you remain responsible for the security of your linked accounts.

3. User content

You own the content you upload, create, or input into Civian, including career history, resume text, portfolio materials, and other personal information. You grant Civian a limited license to process that data solely to provide the service, generate outputs, store your workspace, and improve reliability and service quality.

You agree not to upload or request assistance for content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, misleading, or harmful. You must not use the service to generate materials that impersonate others, misrepresent qualifications, or otherwise violate applicable law.

4. AI-generated output

Civian may generate resume text, summaries, recommendations, and related content using AI technology. AI output is a drafting aid, not a professional certification, legal guarantee, or employment guarantee. You are responsible for validating the accuracy, correctness, and suitability of all final materials before sharing them with employers, clients, or third parties.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Some features may require a paid subscription. Subscription fees are billed according to the plan you select. You may cancel according to the plan terms shown in the billing experience. Civian may update pricing or plan details with notice where required by law.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use Civian in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws. Prohibited activities include attempting to reverse engineer the platform, interfering with service availability, exploiting vulnerabilities, scraping data, or using the service for abusive, fraudulent, discriminatory, or unlawful purposes.

7. Service availability

Civian strives to provide a reliable and secure service, but no cloud-based platform can guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, limit, or modify features to maintain security, reliability, legal compliance, or the integrity of the service.

8. Intellectual property

The Civian platform, its design, branding, software, prompts, system architecture, and related documentation remain the property of Civian or its licensors. The services may not be copied, resold, redistributed, or reused for commercial purposes outside the scope of the agreed service.

9. Termination

Civian may suspend or terminate access to the service if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the platform, or engage in conduct that threatens the security or operation of the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends, although certain obligations that survive termination remain in effect.

10. Limitation of liability

Civian is provided “as is,” and we do not guarantee that the service will meet every business or employment outcome. To the extent permitted by law, Civian is not liable for incidental, indirect, or consequential damages arising from the use of the platform, including lost opportunities, reputational harms, or unreliable third-party outcomes.

11. Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in product features, legal requirements, or operational needs. Material updates will be communicated through the service or a prominent notice. Continued use after the update becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
